Staff Backend Engineer, Distributed Commerce Systems
Design clear boundaries for connected operations, from order to warehouse and delivery.
The mission
One business can span a storefront, marketplace, POS, warehouse and carrier. Lead decisions that connect these paths without losing state or duplicating effects, giving the product a foundation it can grow with.
What you’ll work on
- Design services, API contracts and events for orders, inventory and fulfillment.
- Handle consistency, concurrency, transactions, webhooks and compensating actions.
- Develop tenant isolation, permissions, auditability and service ownership boundaries.
- Improve observability, performance and testing while leading design and incident reviews.
What you bring
- Deep backend engineering experience with distributed systems in use.
- Strong PostgreSQL and TypeScript, Go or Python.
- Understanding of concurrency, idempotency and event-driven architecture.
- Ability to lead technical work, simplify systems and document trade-offs.
